AS I REMEMBER IT// THE MEMORY BOX

CHAPTER ONE

The Memory Box brings together fragments of childhood, home, and the Levant through Reemami’s playful language of print, colour, and construction. Palestinian embroidery and Tatreez inspire tiny wildflowers, Palestinian trees, folkloric symbols, and hand-drawn motifs, reimagined as illustrated scarf-like squares and scattered emblems. Corduroy, organza, denim, suede, jersey, and deadstock fabrics are mixed, layered, pleated, gathered, and pieced together with an instinctive, imperfect touch. Familiar silhouettes are disrupted with unexpected volume, cut-outs, slits, ties, exposed stitching, and playful contrasts of colour and print.

Like opening a box of things collected over time, each piece holds a fragment of a memory — not as it was, but as it is remembered.
